This Key role is to assist the UK EHS Manager to develop, drive, implement, and monitor environmental, health and safety programmes, to promote a safe working culture driving towards zero injuries and net zero carbon footprint, whilst ensuring full compliance with all applicable legislation and corporate obligations.

You will support, coach and guide the manufacturing Plant Management and operational teams along with collaborating within a small EHS team based on other sites.

Working predominantly independently at our Hull manufacturing facility, with responsibility for key EHS elements such as site Environmental and Safety Management systems, Environmental permit and ISO14001 compliance, Chemical management, operational assessments, training, audits and inspections.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support, advice and guidance to Management teams, driving the implementation Kohler Environmental Management System (KEMS) and Kohler Safety Management Systems (KSMS) requirements, providing gap analysis, coordinating compliance improvement actions.

• Control and coordination of the ISO 14001 management system, overseeing recycling/waste/energy and water management programmes, Environmental permit compliance and supporting broader Environmental and Sustainability programmes to meet Company Environmental goals.

• Lead risk assessment and injury prevention programmes, completing suitable and sufficient assessments, hazard identification and implementing safe systems of work and other controls

• Control and co-ordination of the COSHH programme including data sheet analysis, carrying out substance approvals, COSHH assessments, identifying suitable controls, PPE, waste disposal and delivering/coordinating related training.

• Deliver and support management with EHS Training programmes, assisting the broader EHS team with development and delivery of effective EHS training, identifying and arranging external training, rolling out emergency response training, inductions, safety standards and toolbox talks and co-ordinating local first aid and emergency responders.

General EHS Duties:

Ensure compliance with company, corporate and UK, EHS policies, procedures and guidance by:

• Supporting the UK EHS manager to drive and implement relevant EHS programmes.

• Conducting site, process and system audits, identifying and correcting potential hazards.

• Collating and monitoring EHS related data related to leading and lagging indicators.

• Carrying out incident investigations, identifying, recording and implementing corrective actions.

• Recording unsafe conditions/acts, near misses and injuries on company software system.

• Coordinating Emergency response programmes, Fire prevention and incident management.

• Planning health surveillance, personal and workplace monitoring activities.

• Sharing EHS best practice and communicating issues and successes to drive improvement.

• Remain well informed with legislative requirements.

• Identifying and driving EHS improvement projects throughout the site.

• Keeping up to date with Kohler co. requirements and standards.

• General EHS related administrative duties, data collation, reporting and other record keeping.

T ravel Requirements

The role will be predominantly based at our Hull site but the position has EHS support responsibilities for all UK Kitchen & Bath UK facilities and therefore has occasional travel requirements.

Your actual travel requirement will be dependent upon business needs and current issues, all to be agreed with Plant Management and UK EHS Manager.

Skills/Requirements

Qualifications:

• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) or equivalent NVQ in Occupational H&S - Required

• NEBOSH/IEMA Environmental Certificate (minimum) – Required

• COSHH Risk Assessment (or other chemical related training/experience) - Desirable

• Full UK Driving license - Required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3yrs in similar manufacturing organisation

• Current knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation

• Experience of coordinating and complying with an ISO14001 management system

• Experience of interpreting COSHH data sheets and practical application of COSHH regulations.

• Able to interpret data, understand opportunities for improvement and lead implementation.

• Producing clear, well-structured policies, procedures, risk assessments, SSOW and training.
