Kohler Co. Tooling Technician II in SHERIDAN, Arkansas

Tooling Technician II

Work Mode: On-Site

Location: Sheridan, AR

To insure that tooling is maintained in order to produce products to our customers specification.

The hourly range for this position is $23.00 hourly,. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.

Specific Responsibilities

Maintain and clean out mold tooling as required.

Perform all duties required to clean and maintain mold tooling after production runs.

Disassemble mold tooling after production runs, clean all mold steels, remove any gas build up, clean and check all vents for

proper venting of gas, remove all ejector pins clean and replace if necessary, change mold steels out in the mold tool as required

for mold change, clean out and tip hot runner system – replacing tips and heaters as required.

Re-assemble mold tooling after cleaning , replace any needed parts, Check to make sure everything is re-assembled correctly. Water test mold for leaks. Test hot tip manifold for proper working conditions.

Help with any production processing problems that may arise throughout the shift and may be tool related.

Repair as required if possible.

Determine if work can be done in house or needs to go to an outside vendor.

Prepare information required for successful repair by outside vendor.

Prepare mold and or components to ship to the vendor.

Work closely with production control on all mold cleaning and repairs. “Time Frames”

Keep tooling areas as safe and clean.

All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Use personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the employer

Report workplace hazards and dangers

Work in a manner as required by the employer and use the prescribed safety equipment

Supervisory Relationships:

This position reports directly to Lead Tool Maker

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED from an accredited school/program

3 years of documented tooling and mold experience

Must have good mechanical abilities. Has to be able to disassemble and reassemble the complex workings of plastic mold tooling.

Be a self starter who is willing to give his/her best effort, and have the ability to take instructions and run with them without constant supervision.

Have the ability to understand and comprehend the complex workings of plastic mold tooling and convey this information to outside tooling vendors when outside repairs are needed. Include any engineering changes required.

Ability to learn and use measuring devices used to inspect the mold steels.

Be able to comprehend instruction sheets, part prints, and SOP’s.

Work well with other associates

Maintain a safety first attitude.

Successfully complete all yearly safety certifications per the Plastics Safety Matrix.
