Director-Engineering: Bathing, Showering & Styling

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite/hybrid - Kohler, WI. Candidates must be available to work at campus; relocation package is available.

Opportunity

The Director-Engineering, Bathing, Showering & Styling is responsible for organizing, managing, coordinating, measuring, and continuously improving the engineering processes for both New Product and Current Product Development within bath/shower and personal styling spaces in the bathroom environment. You will ensure that consistent policies and practices are employed across multiple disciplines and product categories from legacy to innovative & leading-edge developments. You will direct the planning, identification, and development of product technologies to support the company’s long- range business plans, and establish criteria and processes for recruiting, training, and career development of engineering staff.

Specific Responsibilities

Develops, teaches, and champions design engineering procedures, tools, and techniques:

  • Participates in design engineering reviews of project tasks.

  • Coaches to ensure informed decisions are made concerning the technical content of projects.

  • Remains up to date on best practices and recommends new approaches/tools.

  • Provides requisite technical expertise.

  • Drives technology development and deployment in each product category.

  • Coordinates and drives cost out and cost optimization initiatives in each product category.

  • Develops and mentors team members to be highly skilled in the design engineering discipline.

  • Recruits and hires design engineering resources.

Responsible for establishing policies, procedures, and objectives for engineering discipline. Manages and trains engineering supervisors and managers. Manages department budget, oversees engineering processes, and coordinates with other departments as necessary.

Provides performance expectations and evaluation for design engineering resources relative to design engineering skill, discipline, and growth. Acquires input from Program Manager for expectations/evaluation relative to teamwork and project results. Conducts formal performance management (i.e. MaxP, pay in range, succession planning).

Actively seeks updated knowledge of the engineering profession, the industry, and application of new technologies.

Skills/Requirements

  • A BS in engineering is required. Master’s degree a plus.

  • Strong product development experience and understanding; consumer durable goods highly preferred.

  • At least 6 years of previous supervisory experience.

  • Strategic agility with a strong pragmatic approach.Can define a clear vision and is able to clearly articulate immediate goals/actions.

  • Tolerant of ambiguity and drives to clarity by bringing order and structure to work.

  • Has the ability to communicate clearly and influence at all levels.

  • Operates with candor, enthusiasm, commitment, and drive to achieve business results.

  • Must possess a keen analytical mind, be strong on planning, detail, and accuracy, and be a demonstrably creative thinker.

  • Travel - Approximately 15-25% globally

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The salary range for this position is $187,000 - $245,450. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
